![]() ![]() I turned off crystalizer and CMSS3D to make it fair.SRS Audio Essentials™ puts you in control of your audio entertainment experience on the PC. I can tell on-board can't boost the volume as high. I listened to the same bit of song over and over again, swapping my headphones between on-board and X-Fi. So in anger I switched to my on-board (Realtek ALC888) and you know what, I'm not sure I can tell the difference! ![]() It only seems available through Creative hardware and a few motherboards.Įdit: A quick go in Call of Duty shows the MS headphone surround works ok. I've also heard about this Dolby TruStudio but I've heard mixed comments. Maybe my RealTek is good and I should buy that SRS Audio Essentials software? I game, listen to music and sometimes watch TV shows. Is it worth getting the Xonar DG for the Dolby 5.1 and sound quality? Can I rely on it not to die randomly and squeal loudly through my headphones? I'm not sure it's working at all. ![]() How good is the Windows built in headphone virtualisation? It doesn't do anything to music like CMSS3D does. I think there's something, a slight difference in the music notes, but I can't quite pick it up and I'm not sure if it's my imagination.įYI the song is The Bravery: Ours. So in anger I switched to my onboard (Realtek ALC888) and you know what, I'm not sure I can tell the difference! And other general complaints like CMSS3D not working right because something makes Windows change the speaker setting back to 2 speakers sometimes (why don't Creative drivers handle this?) So I'm pissed at my X-Fi XtremeMusic for it's random moments when it dies and emits a loud noise that sounds like it will wreck my hearing and headphones. ![]()
